Preparando el Message in a bottle #5 a partir de la última película de Herzog "Nomad: In the footseps of Bruce Chatwin", di con el pasado. Si alguien se anima o le apatece un revival está el seminario que di en 2013 en la UNTREF sobre "Filmar la ausencia". Cuánto ha pasado desde entonces! Algunas de las ideas persisten, más o menos sofisticadas: la ausencia misma como eufemismo para "memoria", el documental como gesto creativo, la defensa de la melancolía frente a la nostalgia, el filmar como experiencia, la necesidad de la transformación en la creación... Otras han ido cambiando de piel, hoy ya son otra cosa, como el valor de lo colectivo. Seguramente le debo un "message" a la re-visitación de esa idea, pero mientras tanto, nos vemos el sábado en una sesión dedicada al cine como acto de despedida. Cuídense!
Preparing the Message in a bottle #5 from Herzog's latest movie "Nomad: In the footsteps of Bruce Chatwin", I found some material I prepared and shared in the past. If someone feels like a revival, there's the seminar I gave at UNTREF in 2013 on "Filming Absence". How much has happened since then! Some of the ideas persist, more or less sophisticated: absence itself as a euphemism for "memory", the documentary as a creative gesture, the defence of melancholy against nostalgia, filming as an experience, the need for transformation in creation... Others have entirely evolved, and they became something different, such as the idea of collective memory. Indeed I owe a message to the re-visitation of that idea. In the meantime, I'll see you on Saturday in a session dedicated to filming as a farewell. Take care!
